I've been thinking of getting a 'cool' or exotic animal that is easy to take care of, but what kind?

As long as the cords are out of reach, a ferret would be the pet for you. They are inexpensive and easy to take care of and, if I do say so myself, are very cute and playful. They are also litter trainable and not very common...yet. :D
