What's the difference between Scotch or Whiskey?

scotch is "whisky" and distilled in different parts of Scotland. depending on where the scotch originates it will have different characteristics. when distilled in Kentucky it is called Bourbon and when distilled anywhere else it is called whisk"e"y. just like any other whiskey, scotch has many levels of quality and either single malt(distilled and bottled from one barrel) or blended(distilled and bottled from many barrels). i personally like "isla" types of scotch but some people think its too bold in character. some people make mixed drinks with scotch like you would with jack Daniels or Jim beam, but that's just plain wrong. you should drink it "neat" or with one cube of ice at the most.
