Language teachers/ lecturers/ professors: Could you please give me some teaching tips or methodologies?

Congratulations.:O) My suggestion is to come up with lesson plans for the semester. Planning is really important in teaching and come up with a syllabus for the students. When I plan, I plan around a concept and from there I start getting specific as to how I am going to teach and what activities will help me get to what I want my students to learn and I come up essments afterwards. In the mock lecture, or microteaching and in your case, macroteaching, I would teach a segment out of your unit and lecture as if you are lecturing in an actual clroom. Use things that will support your lecture. Before you actually go into a teaching segment, explain to them your concept and what you have taught before you got to the actual demo. I would possibly come up with handouts and how to write a lesson plan. Taking education cles will also help. It's good to know you know the content area. When you lecture you can provide examples. I can give you more ideas, you can e-mail me at mamurick@rockhurst.edu
