How have the Orangutans adapted to the rainforest?

Orangutans are arboreal; they spend most of their lives in trees, including when they sleep (they make nests). Their chief food is fruit, although they also eat bark, insects, honey, leaves, seeds and bird eggs. They are extremely strong and their curved fingers and toes allow them to grip branches. Without the rainforest, which is being destroyed at a rapid pace, there will be no more orangutans (the name means "person of the forest") left in the wild.
